Noctiferia
Hard, honored and - angry
Noctiferia is Slovenian avant-garde phenomena, that disturbs the scene for the last decade with unconventional releases. They always searched in the unknown and untouched musical styles and every release they put out was completely different from all previous.
Noctiferia released their first album back in 1997. Baptism at Savica Fall was the first Slovenian experiment in the extreme black metal and traditional and national roots. This album opened the doors of free artistic expression for Noctiferia.
As they started to feel that they are here for one purpose only. To make music art different. They released the next album "Per Aspera" in 2003 for the label Arctic music group and toured europe twice with Malevolent Creation, Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, Marduk...
By 2003 Noctiferia was on their way to creating a new technical approach of Morbid Angel, to extreme Death Black metal, one that drew from Samael, incorporated electronic sounds and colours. Noctiferia ‘s electronic sounds would be developed out of this early millennium experiments and in their music would retain the spirit of an artist ever-changing.
The timing was right for the next step named Slovenska Morbida.
Bring out the Beast is a classic example. "Take some tup-tup rhythm, lots of little background percussion sounds, electronic atmosphere mutations, add some simple tune lines and you have got a grooving formula." This is Noctiferia about. Atmosphere. And groove.
On many levels is Slovenska Morbida ahead of its time in the moderne extreme music.
Three months after the release of Slovenska Morbida, Noctiferia toured U.K. with the band Hypocrisy and after the tour they finally found a proper drummer, a constant band member Mathias. They started working on the preproduction for the new material and were offered this time to record in Switzerland, with long time friend and great artist, Chris of the band Samael. The session guitarist was added for live performances and soon Roman Files of Slovenia Prog metal band Prospect became a live member of Noctiferia.
2008 started out pretty busy for Noctiferia. A recording date at DB recording studio of new album "Death Culture" at January 5th, a gig at Capital’s main venue, recorded by national TV and sold out show at the Capital was a great start.
"Music is the most abstract and personal form of art... at least for me. It stimulates the imagination. In modern music you have melody/beat and a message that goes along with it. This means that one supports the other. What Noctiferia does, in its core, an angry, critical and mystic music and we relate to that. Music is a powerful weapon. It is one of the means of changing the mass consciousness. People who control the world in different ways are systematically suppressing the global consciousness of the people to the level of complete numbness, acceptance of fate, because that’s when we are most controllable. In my opinion metal isn’t necessarily the positively clairvoyant type of music that would fight against that. It can be, but it can also function in interests of a failed, mislead system and mostly it does just that. It depends on what it is promoting."
